MILLION !

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Today LG proudly announced that their multimedia handset LG KM900 Arena exceeded one million units sold around the world, following the steps of the 5 million Cookies and 5 million Viewties spread around the globe.
LG Arena was announced back in February during the MWC 2009 and was released in late April this year. It targeted the multimedia class and its pre-orders and first week sales were very promising (actually LG were touting one million pre-orders and subsequently orders even back then). However it seems that now, four months later, they’ve finally hit the millionth milestone for real.
[…]
LG Arena sold in one million units in 53 countries across the globe and we bet its success is far from ending. If LG continue their good marketing strategy and put their foot down to the metal with their upcoming AppStore, we are sure that the KM900 Arena will join the LG Cookie and LG Viewty on the 5-million podium.

N97 the real enemy…

Friday, August 28th, 2009

It isn’t easy being the smartest kid on the block. Since the N80 was announced back in 2005, Nokia has dedicated itself to shoving more cutting-edge tech into our pockets than anyone else. But it’s been unable to match the sizzle of its more showy rivals. Until now.

The N95 and N96 bristled with iPhone-busting specs, but were hampered by poor battery life and an antiquated control system. But with the N97, Nokia has finally honed a phone that’s fit to fight for the smartphone top spot. […]

The N97, good as it is, will only become great if Nokia sorts out Ovi and manages to encourage developers to produce apps that rival the iPhone.

The end of your private conversation by German Hackers

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

In comments made to the German edition of the Financial Times, the hacking group claims that governments, and criminals, are already using the technique which can break the encryption used to protect 2G GSM calls in near-real time using existing systems.

The group says a public exposure of the technique will take place in the next month or two and allow anyone equipped with a laptop and an antenna to listen in to GSM phone calls. [...]

Samsung S8000 on the TOP !

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

The main selling point for the Samsung S8000 Jet isn’t its OLED screen, or its 5Mp camera, or even its sleek and compact good looks. For this model, Samsung is highlighting a major element of the modern multimedia phone that often gets overlooked – the processor. The Samsung S8000 Jet comes with an industry-leading 800MHz processor – more powerful even than those on the big smartphones – which should make everything about it run faster and smoother. […]

This latest version of Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface offers three home screens that you brush sideways to access. Each has a different wallpaper and set of widgets to choose from, and you can customise them to bring your favourite functions to the fore. Fortunately, you can also double up on widgets, having the same one on different screens, which wasn’t possible previously.
